c permit

You need to go to the migration office and have a visit with them. In the Canton of Zürich, beginning in 2008, they now have their own rules, and one in particular that is very different from other cantons. Along with all of the previous requirements, you now have to take and pass a language examination and achieve an A2 level in German in order to successfully apply for a C permit in the canton of Zürich. Our family was shocked about this new requirement, which exists only in Canton Zürich. Very few people even realize this has happened. Even the staff people at out local Gemeinde in Zollikon did not know about the new law change. This was voted in the canton in Zürich in 2006, and is now enacted. The A2 level generally takes from 230 to 320 classes of German to achieve. This again, sadly, is more of the anti-foreigner backlash that has been drummed up by the SVP party. When I tell my Swiss friends about this new requirement, they are horrified.
Zürich can know longer offer up their friendly international atmosphere as a selling point, because the tide is beginning to turn on foreigners who do not march to the exact drumbeat of perfect Swissness.Anna 24 dec 2008, 08:53 - Rapporteer misbruik
