  • You were supposed to apply for a permit within 30 days of arriving in Greece, and the process takes several months to be processed. There's no country in the world (especially Greece) that issues a permit on the spot; at most, you will get a receipt that entitles you to travel.

However, because you waited too long and are now in an illegal status, you cannot apply for a permit after your visa is expired. Read, "How non-EU citizens get a permit to live and work in Greece."

You will also be fined for overstaying your visa, if you're not lucky. Fine is up to 1200 euros.

    Good luck.
