Marriage in Germany

• I have somewhat of a similar situation. My boyfriend is German and lives in Berlin. I am an American living in the US still. We plan to marry as well and I was just wondering if that would mean I wouldn't have any problems moving there and finding a job.
  
  This long distance relationship is very difficult and we just want to get married and be together. I assume that I have to go to Germany to get married? Problem is I am not living there right now so how soon after we marry can I permanently remain?
