• Sorry for my lack of French... I could try here to write French, but it's better for the topic to express my note in English...
  
  Does anyone here know if there is a law about a tenant's responsibility related to the paint on the walls of an apartment?
  
  We rented a furnished place for over three years. We asked if we could hang pictures after the first year of the lease. The landlady said yes, so we did.
  
  When we moved out, we discovered the pictures had left lighter areas on the wall where they had been hanging.
  
  The landlady decided to repaint the walls and would now like to charge us for HALF of the painting costs.
  
  We made no other marks on the wall other than hanging the photos. We even used some special nails she recommended, to make any holes where we hang the pictures invisible.
  
  Should we really have to pay for half the paintjob?
  
  Our other neighbors in the buiding tell us she's a thief.
