UK joint account when non UK resident?

• I need to establish a UK based joint account with my sister (building society or whatever) for the administration of money during my mother's lifetime from sale of the family home, left in trust in my father's will.
  Will I as a non-UK resident be able to do this? (My pension and tax is paid in the UK.)
