How to handle dishonest landlords ?
-
Hi,
I had rented 2 rooms in a Villa lejlighed in Copenhagen from a person for a rent of DKK 4000 + electricity (DKK 500). He was having the 3rd room in the same apartment
1½ months before the expiry of contract he asked us that he cannot renew the contract (which is a violation since we have agreed on a 3 months notice period). Anyways, we have emptied his place and found a new one in the next 15 days since it is the only one which we were being offered at the time.
When I have asked him about the deposit money which was DKK 8000 he has not replied to me for 15 days and after that he has sent me a bill which has "changing of locks", "painting of house", "repairing of wall", "cleaning of kitchen" etc. which has never been an agreement. Moreover he has charged heavily for all of these.
In the rent contract we agreed on a DKK 500 per month for the electricity and he said he will share the electricity if it comes more than that. When he received the electricity bill he asked me to pay the balance which I apparently did for 5 months.
Just for the records, when we have received the apartment it was in a much bad shape and we have cleaned it in a better way than when we have received it.
He has also asked me to pay the balance of electricity (this is more that DKK 500 which is written in the contract).
How should I handle this?
Best regards
